| Supporters of CKJS radio station with our Sokoł’s Chaplain, Fr. Tomasz Koscinski, and CKJS Polish radio announcers, Irek Lemans and Sabina Gielwanowska, recipients of a prestigious award for persons of the year award for their work with the Polish Radio weekly, award “Edyty Felsztynskiej” which was presented at Liverpool, England. | Sokoł Polish Folk Ensemble’s last meeting with supper that ends our rehearsal season until September. | Photos of Sokoł President, Bernadette Gabriel, celebrating being a recipient of the Manitoba 150 medal. | On December 23rd, 2019, the Sokoł Polish Folk Ensemble had the honour of singing the Canadian National Anthem at a Winnipeg Jets -vs- Montreal Canadians hockey game. They proudly sang in front of a televised national audience of millions of Canadians. | Long time Sokoł member Jerzy Bibik passed away peacefully on June 27, 2019. He was the longest serving member of the choir and came to be as “the nestor” of the Sokoł choir. A funeral service for Jerzy was held on Friday July 5, 2019 where family, friends, and the choir had an opportunity to say their final goodbye. | In the Roman Catholic tradition, the month of May is known as the “May Crowning” when we celebrate and honor the Virgin Mary, as the “Queen of May”. The Sokoł Polish Ensemble, under the direction of Tadeusz Biernacki, has thus premiered our Inaugural Marian Concert on May 26th, 2019 at Holy Ghost Church. The event was a success, and Sokoł looks forward to many more successful Marian concerts in the future. |
